Writing and editing have always been my passions, ever since I was a little girl. I used to handwrite letters to my family when I lived in New York City. I am from Wisconsin (USA). I still love handwriting letters to my family back home. I live in the Netherlands now. I had a pen pal from age 12. I was always the organized type, writing down everything that had to be done, and checking each item off when finished.
Age 15 was when writing and editing began to get a bit more serious. I started being interested in law and poetry. My foster dad was instrumental in my writing and editing journey. He would have me sit next to him, and make me edit and rewrite every single one of my papers. At the time, I was pretty annoyed with him. Now I realize that he gave me a gift. The gift of being a skilled writer and editor.
I started freelance writing and editing when I got to college. I was a contributor and later, Features Editor, of my college newspaper, the MATC Times. In addition, I started taking on clients. Lots of college students needed assistance with their papers. I edited and tutored them in writing their essays.
When I started working in real estate about 4 years ago, it was my moment to shine. All the knowledge that I had of law writing came in handy. I started drafting addendums and advocating for leases to have clearer language. I loved every moment when I was doing those things.
My dream was always to have my own writing platform. I had the idea for a blog many years ago but didn’t finally do it until the pandemic started getting on my nerves. April 2020, at the constant urging and support of my partner, I started my blog. I never would have imagined that in my blog’s first year, I would have over 65,000 visitors.
April 2021 I was laid off from my job and decided to give writing and editing full time a try. So far, it’s been great. I have redone people’s CVs (resumes), written cover letters, social media posts, articles, blog posts, website copy, and more. Writing and editing are my true calling. Thank you for reading!
